About IGNOU 

The INDIRA GANDHI NATIONAL OPEN UNIVERSITY (IGNOU), established by an Act of Parliament in 1985, has continuously striven to build an inclusive knowledge society through inclusive education. It has tried to increase the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) by offering high-quality teaching through the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode.The University began by offering two academic programmes in 1987, i.e., Diploma in Management and Diploma in Distance Education, with a strength of 4,528 students.

Today, it serves the educational aspirations of over 3 million students in India and other countries through 21 Schools of Studies and a network of 67 regional centres, around 2,667 learner support centres and 29 overseas partner institutions. The University offers about 228 certificate, diploma, degree and doctoral programmes, with a strength of nearly 810 faculty members and 574 academic staff at the headquarters and regional centres and about 33,212 academic counsellors from conventional institutions of higher learning, professional organisations, and industry among others.

IGNOU History at SPS Gurugram
Salwan Public School, Gurugram joined hands with IGNOU under the Women Empowerment scheme and become a Special Study Centre 1021D in January 2001 .In 2010, we had also carried out Disaster management courses with Regional Centre III for Gurugram Region.Our study centre is also an IGNOU Examination Centre.

Admision Activites at SSC 1021d

  • IGNOU Prospectus are available at study centre for prospective learners from Monday to Saturday from 08:00 a.m. to 03:00 p.m. at reception counter. 
  • A well equipped help desk with computers, printer and scanner facilities are available for Fresh Admissions and Re Registrations.
  • A separate IGNOU notice board is available at the main entry of study centre for the latest Information received from Regional Centre.
  • The students are well informed about Term End Examination Form and their Re-registration according to their programme before deadlines through SMS & E-mails.
  • Admissions closed for session Jan 2020.
Induction Programme
  • Induction Programmes are organised for newly enrolled students of January and July cycles.
  • The students interact with their respective academic counsellors.
  • Schedule for counselling sessions are distributed according to their programme.
  • The officers from Regional Centres also interact with the students.
  • It is mandatory to attend the Induction Programme for newly admitted students.
  • The Coordinator briefs the learners about the functioning and facilities available at the study centre.

Academic Counsellor
  • The academic counsellor has the combined role of providing general counselling as well as tutoring to the IGNOU learners.
  • They address the comprehensive needs of distance learners.
  • They are supposed to guide learners to study at a distance, familiarize them with the system.
  • Academic Counsellors are available at study centre as per the counseling session schedule allotted to the students.
  • Academic Counsellors approved from IGNOU conduct theoretical and practical sessions.
  • Empanelment of new academic counsellors for different programmes is done regularly.
  • All Academic Counsellors are well trained and fully qualified in their subject.
Academic Counselling Schedules 
  • Academic Counselling is related to personal and individual needs of a learner.
  • Counselling helps learners identify their individual problems, so as to enhance effective learning.
  • The Academic Counselling schedules (both for theoretical and practical sessions) are prepared for all programmes before the commencement of counselling sessions.
  • Academic Counsellors are well informed about the counselling schedule allotted to them in advance and provided the study material accordingly.
  • The students attendance records are maintained for each counselling session on prescribed format received from Regional Centre.
  • The Students are well informed regularly about their counselling schedule through E-mail & SMS (especially for practical sessions).

Tutor Marked Assignments
  • Assignments are integral and compulsory components of the instructional system in ODL system. A learner has to write assignment responses compulsorily before taking term-end examination.
  • A learner has to submit Tutor Marked Assignments (TMA) responses to the Coordinator of the Study Centre. It generally carries 25% - 30% weightage towards the final grades.
  • Assignments are submitted to the centre and a proper course-wise record is maintained. An acknowledgment slip is given to the students after receiving the assignment.
  • The Assignment Award lists are prepared and sent to Regional Centres.
  • Approved Academic Counsellors  evaluate the  Assignments
  • Reminders are given to students for assignments submission through SMS and E-mails.
  • Evaluated assignments are available for the learners and the feedback is provided to them.
